Co-op Multiplayer | Part 2

Welcome back to the Frontier Chronicles! Today we will be diving into a new core feature of Fortune on the Frontier, co-op multiplayer.

As mentioned in Part 1, Fortune on the Frontier now features co-op multiplayer for up to four VR adventurers.

The addition of co-op revealed so many exciting new opportunities for FOTF.

Adventure with Friends

At its most basic, co-op provides an opportunity for adventurers to explore the King and Keegstra mine together, helping each other to progress through the adventure. Players can join forces to collect treasure that can be used to unlock their own townsites.

While this itself is a fun concept, we wanted to use co-op as an opportunity to future entice chaos into the adventure. If you have ever seen Indiana Jones, you’ll know that globetrotting adventurers can’t always trust each other. Heck, one of them might even try to steal the treasure for themselves! The nerve.

Treasure Stealing

Well in Fortune on the Frontier, you can now feel like a double-crossing thief by stealing the final artifact for yourself! Once the ammolite treasure has been claimed, it will be attached to the adventurer who obtained it. During the exciting conclusion, other VR players can steal the treasure off of you to claim the title of master adventurer.

Vote-Driven Adventure

Co-op players can choose standard paths for their adventures. If you want to add more excitement, you can also choose the random path mode to vote on each level – crafting your own adventure. This same system is also available in the asymmetrical multiplayer, adding an unexpected challenge to each play session.

This system also allows us to seamlessly integrate new levels into the game, without affecting the core structure. We hope that you will keep coming back to check what new challenges await!

Frontier Townsite

Core to the gameplay of FOTF is the Townsite. Each player starts their adventure by discovering the townsite at the threshold of the King and Keegstra mine. With the buildings abandoned and town deserted, you claim ownership of this forgotten place.

The Townsite is your staging ground. Here you can invite your friends, both VR and non-VR, and prepare for the challenges ahead. Use your treasure to restore the buildings and unlock new gameplay (including minigames) for you and your friends to enjoy. The treasure can only be earned by successfully completing adventures. No microtransactions just pure progression.

We designed the Townsite to be an ever growing and expanding part of FOTF. We look forward to delivering exciting new content throughout the life of the game.

Next Time

That’s all for now! Join us next time on The Frontier Chronicles to learn how we have revisited each system of the game to make it easy to learn, difficult to master, and fun to play.
